Wednesday 5th March 2008
Heavy snow this morning which is settling fast and strikes mean no trains, boats or planes so goid job we're not trying to get home today!
Great news, during his morning rounds Dr Kandilakis has said Ellis can be discharged he just wants Dr Waner, who is in surgery again this morning, to see him one more time so should be this afternoon.
Dr Waner visited Ellis and once again stated how pleased he is with the results, he also explained that the eye is still a little low due to the birthmark pushing it down but that this should resolve naturally as it continues to involute.
We were discharged late afternoon, having paid the hospital fees, loaded up with antibiotics to prevent any infections and cream to put on the scars. Then we returned back to the apartment got the boys fed and in bed then went about the task of packing for the trip home.
Thursday 6th March 2008
We had breakfast, got the car packed up, then headed for the center of Berlin where we found a Sea Life Centre which we spent a couple of hours going round until it was time to fly to the airport. A flight home with easyJet followed by the car journey home signalled the end of a very hectic trip.
Once again Ellis has just been amazing through the whole experience and hasn't complained at all, he is just so happy with his eye and the fact that after 3 years he can close it when he goes to sleep.
Next on the agenda is a trip to Liverpool Alder Hey to have the stitches removed, this is scheduled for 8am on Tuesday 11th March so we'll travel up on the Monday afternoon and stay somewhere local. We'll keep everyone updated on this and post a new photo once the stitches have been removed.
